Juanes Forward, Forward! Get Peace Prize.



The Colombian singer Juanes was the National Peace Prize 2009 in the honorary category, which is given for the first time to recognize his work on behalf of victims of armed conflict in the country and understanding between peoples, reported today the heads of the initiative.

The singer and composer earned this honor for their work from the Mi Sangre Foundation, created by him and also for his musical project Peace Without Borders, through large concerts and has held two, one on the border of Colombia with Venezuela and one in Cuba.

Juanes Recognition is decided by the United Nations Program for Development (UNDP), the Foundation Fescol, Semana magazine, the newspapers El Tiempo and El Colombiano, Caracol and Caracol Radio and Television, creators of the Peace Prize.

The artist does with their accompanying soldiers wounded in combat and minefields, their appeals for release of hostages and their Peace Without Borders Concert, organizers said.

The Peace Prize, which reached its eleventh edition, will be delivered on Monday in Bogota.
